15 Things to Do in San Diego This Weekend: August 27–31
Similar to newly minted fiancée Taylor Swift’s globetrotting world tour, this weekend’s event lineup is all about eras, with a selection of art, music, and visual storytelling that looks to the past and eyes what’s to come. Vanguard’s production of Henry V will jump back to 15th-century England, while Oceanside Theatre Company’s Spring Awakening is set in 1890s Germany. Concertgoers can catch nostalgic shows from Nelly and the Pixies and groove to 2000s and 2010s reggae at the Holo Holo Music Festival. Meanwhile, the new exhibitions Fragmentos del Barrio (Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center) and Visions for Civic Gardens (Two Rooms Gallery) envision the possibility of a better, more community-centered world.
